or... evolution screwed males over because it couldn't be bothered with creating sperm production facilities that didn't have to be kept cooler than internal body temperature... and the whole advertising thing? only works so far, before it becomes too costly and you end up with airheads made up of silicone being desired mates, and the future of the species gets screwed over...
@jeaniefoz: hell yeah we've been screwed over, but it's not a cooling issue. Our bodies have amazing temperature regulation systems.
Ball bags are more of a vestigial feature - it's not an effective advertisement when hidden behind a pair of trousers.
I wonder when testicle cleavage will appear in modern fashion? Urgh, too hairy...
First of all we didn't evolve wearing trousers, and secondly temperature has a lot to do with it, ever notice how the scrotum draws toward the body when cold?
Of course they react to temperature, I've even heard it said that sumo wrestlers can withdraw them at will. That still doesn't mean that temperature is the only reason for their dangliness.
Maybe the "intelligent design" proponents have a theory as to why god decided to encase our brains in a temperature regulated bone shell but left our reproductive organs out in the open?it would also be interesting to hear arguments as to why one is more important to the survival of the species than the other.
